In support of our Charity Partner Young Lewisham Project, 11 members of the LOWE team are embarking on the incredible Three Peaks Challenge this coming June.
Together with representatives from the charity, we will attempt to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon — the three highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales — within just 24 hours.
Covering 23 miles (37km) and ascending more than 3,000 metres (over 10,000 feet), accomplishing the challenge will mean completing Ben Nevis in 5 hours, Scafell Pike in 4 hours and Snowden in 4 hours. This is one of LOWE’s most ambitious fundraising events to date – and all for a great cause.
Young Lewisham Project is an important charity partner for LOWE, having played a pivotal role in Head of Operations Andre’s personal journey. Founded in 1974, the organisation supports young people who might not be reaching their full potential in mainstream education. Their goal is to use alternative vocational programmes to re-engage young people and teach them the necessary skills for the workplace and further education.
The project aims to maximise their chances of becoming active members of society by improving their self-esteem, skills and career prospects. Furthermore, the project works tirelessly to ensure that their young people are not left feeling hungry or lonely, which is achieved through communal cooking sessions. This initiative encourages collaborative efforts among them to cook homemade meals, not only fostering a sense of togetherness but also by teaching them essential and valuable life skills.
The Three Peaks Challenge is being undertaken as an epic fundraising effort, we’ve set the goal of raising £10,000.
