The two-week, 2,022 km bike ride, from the Colosseum in Rome to Wandsworth in London, raised an incredible £80,200 in aid of supporting young people in south London and the incredible work that Regenerate does.
The aim of the fundraiser was to raise money to further support young people in south London, and here is what Regenerate had to say about the extraordinary bike ride:
“This is a 17-day cycle which will require them to ride 70 miles a day on average, and will take them up a total of 65,775 feet of mountains and hills!
The ride will bring people together from different walks of life, and everyone who takes part will learn to push through mental barriers, grow in self-belief and resilience, and grow a sense of teamwork and camaraderie. The journey will allow the team to see that anything is possible and inspire young people from our community to dream big dreams.
By doing this ride, we are fundraising to support young people from our community who face barriers to employment. We want to raise £50,000 to grow our social enterprise and employ hundreds of young people facing barriers to employment over the coming years.”
During the cycle ride, Tim had the opportunity to spend time with several young people partaking in the fundraiser, including Isaac Lutaya, who has been supported by Regenerate for the last 3 years, since he was 16 years old.
Shortly after returning from the cycle ride, Tim offered Isaac an 18-month training programme opportunity to join our Property Services team as a Trainee Property Assistant.
As a part of this training programme, Isaac will learn invaluable skills within the property sector, including fire alarm testing, project management training, health and safety, auditing, utility management and much more. Isaac has been with us a little over two months and is quickly impressing the team with his willingness to learn, enthusiasm and equally fantastic sense of humour!
Welcome aboard Isaac, we are so excited to have you on the team.
